About Keener Electric Motors, Inc.
Carl E. Keener became interested in the electrical field while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Later, in 1962, the Colebrook, Pa., native established Keener Electric Motors, Inc. in Lebanon as an electromechanical apparatus repair shop for A.C. and D.C. motors. With money borrowed from a friend, Carl bought a small building and quickly earned customers' respect with his abundant knowledge, strong work ethic and friendly personality.
Over the years, the building was expanded three times to accommodate new equipment and inventory. One of those expansions involved the purchase of a computerized coil winding machine that increased the capacity of the company's motor rewinding operations.
The firm continued to grow when it became a distributor for the Italian manufacturer Lafert Metric Motors in 1989 and a warehouse for that company a few years later. Carl Keener passed away in 2011 and just missed seeing his company turn 50 years old in 2012.
Today, Keener Electric Motors, Inc. is the oldest Lafert Metric Motors distributor in the United States and continues to carry the largest Lafert inventory in the northeast. Submersible pump sales and repairs for the sewage treatment industry are prominent activities. Myers, Hydromatic and Wilo pumps are among company's extensive product lines.
Quality workmanship and service remain steadfast core values. Carl's sons, Jeff and Dave Keener, lead a cadre of dedicated and highly-experienced employees who act with honesty, integrity and a sense of urgency while delivering excellence every day.
